Description:
The “C-Shaped” Dragon, carved in the round from a single piece of celadon jade, is a striking example of Hongshan Culture artistry. Its body is graceful, with its tail upturned towards its porcine snout. Its horns protrude upward from its forehead, and swoop down towards its back. The eyes sit like convex beads on either side of its head, and its snout is flat with two small holes indicating nostrils. A similar work was excavated in the Inner Mongiloa Autonomous Region in 1971. See Gu Fang, The Pictorial Handbook of Ancient Chinese Jades, p. 52.

Description:
A similar coiled dragon pendant was unearthed during the excavation of the tomb of Lady Fu Hao, Henan Province. The jade is an off-white, with stark reddish/brown iron oxide inclusions throughout. The dragon’s horns are stocky and mushroom shaped, and its eyes are wide and human like. It is decorated on its back and sides with raised relief cloud shaped patterns. Its body is coiled and limbless, with carved lines across its belly like that of a serpent. See the Institute of Archeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Tomb of Fu Hao in Yinxu, image #466.

Description:
The flat coiled dragon pendant is carved from very fine pale green and translucent nephrite with minimal alternation. His body is decorated on both sides with hook-shaped designs. His mouth is open, and his eye is one large pupil. On top of his head are large, mushroom-shaped horns. Description: The pendant depicts a popular motif in Western Zhou jade carvings, anthropomorphism. There is a man-dragon assemblage with three serpentine dragons, one small human head, and one human figure. The larger human figure has thick eyebrows, large eyes, long hair with a bun on top, and bird-like feet. The smaller human head, which has the same thick eyebrows and top bun, is perched above all other figures, and faces the opposite direction of the larger human figure.
